Multi Engine Class Rating

 
 
 
The Multi-Engine Piston Rating (MEP) extends the privileges of the Private Pilot's Licence or Commercial Pilot's Licence to allow you to fly aircraft with more than one engine, giving an excellent set of skills for any aviation professional.

The Multi Engine Piston rating is consist of

MEP eligibility requirements

You should have completed 70 hours as pilot-in-command of aeroplanes prior to submitting your Multi-Engine Application.

Duration of the course

The ab-initio JAA Multi Engine Rating full time course  takes on an average of 8 to 10 days to complete depending on your previous experience and preparation for the course. 

Skill Test

 The MEP skill test on a complex multi-engine aircraft is based around the ability to respond to abnormal and emergency scenarios. In addition, you need to pass a written theoretical examination on the aircraft systems.Upon completion of the course, you will have the necessary knowledge and skills to obtain Multi-Engine Piston privileges.

Privileges of the holder of a MEP class rating
The Multi-engine class rating allows you to fly as pilot-in-command (PIC) of any multi-engine piston aeroplane for which a type rating is not required.

It is imperative for the inexperienced pilot acting as Pilot-in-Command of a complex multi-engine aircraft unles one is fully prepared and have sound theoretical knowledge, as well as good flying skills. One can only be entrusted through careful and thorough ground and flight instruction.
